The
increasing number of animals in desperate need of rescuing or assistance
throughout Echo Park has become a growing concern to many residents. Echo
Park is a unique community full of creativity and compassion, and although
many caring individuals do what they can to help alleviate the problems
stemming from pet over-population, it can be overwhelming. Some of us
got to thinking how much more effective our individual efforts might be
if we local animal advocates were to pool our energies…
The Echo Park Animal Alliance was founded in September 2000 as a forum
for residents of Echo Park, regular users of Elysian Park, rescuers, members
of our local humane community, and for anyone concerned with animal welfare
and with raising the level of responsible pet ownership within our neighborhood.
We encourage you to join us to help support each other's efforts, share
information, ideas, and resources. Hopefully, we can start turning things
around on a local level.
