SANDY
Sandy is a 1-2 year-old Staffie mix. Sandy is very affectionate and playful. She loves to fetch and she avoids conflicts with other dogs. She just wants to be friends, even with cats. NALA
Nala is a sweet, 2-3 year old female Chow-x girl waiting patiently for that special someone to call her own. She was rescued from the South L.A. shelter on her last day. Her family had dumped her in horrid, neglected condition. She is 55 lbs., spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed and microchipped. She is extremely gentle and good-natured and has a happy, playful disposition. She is a bit sy when she first meets someone new, but warms-up quickly and is so appreciative of any attention or affection. She prances around gleefully when I return home, offering play-bows. She tries to carry on a conversation with me (actually speaking in syllables) when I’m prepping her food. Then she lies down to eat - so funny! She has a favorite blanket she drags to various locations as her mood strikes her. She enjoys being petted and brushed, and chilling out close by. She is independent, clean, calm, quiet, watchful, housetrained and non-destructive. She really looks forward to her leash walks and is well-behaved in the car. Fine with dogs she meets while out on walks, but she should be the only dog in the household. Nala will make a devoted companion for some lucky person - she will thrive in a loving home! SWEENEY
Sweeney is a 2 to 3 year-old male brindle Pit mix. I saw him and his buddy Red lying on a grassy area by a busy street. They were very friendly when I approached them. Both of them came over for some affection and then they kept on walking down a nearby alley. For a month I would see them along this same busy street always together. Most of the time they would be lying next to each other. It was very heartbreaking for me to pass them and not be able to help them. Finally I decided to take them because it was obvious Sweeney needed medical help. But I had to hassle with a homeless guy who claimed they were his. Finally I threatened to call the police so he let me have them for $20. Now Sweeney is completely healed, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, fecal test done, Frontlined, and microchipped. TITAN
Titan is a 6 month old cutie. His mom is a Staffie mix and papa was probably a small Rottie or Dobie. At 6 months he only weighs about 20 lbs., so he won't be a big dog. UNITAS
Unitas is a 10 lbs., 10 year-old Shih Tzu mix. This little guy is a tough little trooper. He went from a home life in Eagle Rock to somehow living on the mean streets of south L.A. He was in pretty bad condition but he was still energetic and curious about everything that was around him. Now that he's all fixed up and groomed, he's a totally different looking dog. SHANTI
Shanti is one of the smartest dogs we know. She would have easily gotten into MIT. She is a healthy dog that never needed any medication except her regular shots at Banfield. She has been spayed, housetrained and would make a loving companion…and will even try to talk to you. She is an 11 year old Shepherd-Lab mix weighing 45 pounds with all her vaccinations current. TUXIE
Tuxie was rescued off the streets of Inglewood in December 2008. A search for her owner proved unsuccessful, so she is now available for adoption. She is just under a year old, spayed, microchipped & vaccinated. She is a very high-energy dog that needs room to run and lots of exercise each day, as well as training. Tuxie is great at dog parks and off-leash on walks with a small pack in the Arroyo. She is friendly to everyone and great at greeting / playing with other dogs. Hi! My name is Roxanna. I'm a one year old female German Shepherd mix. My foster daddy found me in an industrial area of south LA. He's found a lot of dogs in that area. He found me just in time. I was pregnant and the next day after he brought me home I had my pups. I was really happy to have my puppies in a safe warm place with lots of food and clean water. Brownie is a 2 year-old male Shepherd mix. He was brought to a local kennel after he was found roaming busy La Tuna Canyon. Through his microchip, we traced him back to his previous owner, who had given him away to a relative... who didn't want him back. Poor Brownie deserves SO much better! Scruffy is a 16 lb., two-year-old Miniature Schnauzer boy who was found running in traffic. He is a super energetic alpha-dog requiring a good deal of exercise and strong leadership to stay happy and focused. Scruffy will benefit from obedience training and a dog-savvy, adult home, so he is sure to get the guidance and structure he needs. He is very smart and will learn quickly.
